| Brief introduction of Tongchuan |
Tongchuan, located in the middle part of Shaanxi  province , at longitude 108°34ˊto 109°29ˊE and latitude 34°50ˊto 35°34ˊN, is an important part of Guanzhong economic belt and a provincial city of Shaanxi province. Tongchuan city was founded in 1958.After 40 years' rapid development, especially since the reform and opening up to the outside world, Tongchuan has become a comprehensive industrial city with variety of industries, superiority of agriculture bases, perfect urban infrastructure, increasingly boost economic strength and all-round promotion of all kinds of social services. | Tongchuan is situated in the north part of Guangzhong plain of Shaanxi province, lies in an important position to Yellow emperor Mausoleum--- a legendary father of Chinese nation and Yan'an---a sacred place of Chinese revolution, is 68 kilometers away from xi'an city proper and 72 kilometers away from Xi'an-xianyang International airport.

Administrative divisions and population
Tongchuan, covering an area of 3882 square kilometers, has a population of 860,000, the urban population accounts for 53%. Under its jurisdiction, there are three administrative divisions and one county, namely Wangyi, Yintai, Yaozhou district and Yijun county.
Land and mineral resources
Tongchuan has rich soil resources, which suits for comprehensive development in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery. Now it has 2.4445 million mu( one mu is equal to 0.0667ha.) of woodland and 1.5207mu of grassland. There are 9 kinds of reserve proved minerals, among them, 5 non-mental minerals, 2 mental minerals,2 energy minerals. The deposit of coal reaches more than 3 billion tons and oil shale about 500 million tons.
Climate, animals and plants
Tongchuan belongs to the continental monsoon climate of warm current zone. Annual average duration of Sunshione:2345.7-2412.5 hours, annual average precipitation:555.8- 709.3mm, annual average temperature:
8.9℃-12.3℃. Tongchuan area has 68 kinds of wild animals, among which leopard, musk deer and otter were listed as the second key protection animal by the state. There are 645 kinds of wild seed plants. |
